Lions Millennium Time Capsule

Lion Millennium Time Capsule were built at DR Seenivasagam Recreational Park which is the largest recreational park in Perak. The official launch was on 20th May, 2000.

Objective:
1. To deliver messages to future generations.
2. To give our descendents a glimpse of their past.

Two capsule were installed. One capsule will be opened in 100 years (year 2100).

The second capsule will be opened in 20 years ( year 2020 in line with Tun Dr. Mahathir, Malaysian 4th Prime Minister's Vision). Another capsule may then be installed.
For Melanie:-
On our 50th Anniversary in 2016 with our sister clubs at Millennium Time Capsule.

    1. We sold postcards to members and the public at nominal prices. Messages were written on the postcards for their loved ones and to the clubs, NGO and others. Old Lion magazines were also placed inside for the future Lions to open and share the club’s history. Some to be opened in 2020 and some after 100 years.

We hope the above answers your query, Annabella.

  2. They are a few name on the committee which still serve in the club till now like T. Sriskanda, Peter Lip, Dato Foo Wan Kien, Ho Choon Seng and that most senior Lions of yours Khor Chee Kung! Wow they are very dedicated. You guys should take picture once again at that place. It'll be historic man!

  4. This is interesting. Something new. I've only heard about time capsule around USA before, so Lions Club outside USA also do the same. Good, the next generation should know their history, some great feeling you'll have when you see all those materials.

    1. In the year 2000 we did not carry smartphones to take pictures Syuan Yan. We had to rely on those with cameras.

Unfortunately the Lion who was busy clicking away on that auspicious day never gave the club a single photo. When we asked him he said none came out.

That is why if you look at our history although we mention the Millennium Time Capsule, there are no photos.

  8. Must be sad for not having any picture of that event righ. But even so, i think you need to add in a lot of stuff already to your capsule. Your club already achive tons of amazing history since 2000, while it still fresh and you still have it, better keep add it in the capsule. All of your achievement is amazing.

Dont rest, keep on spread the love!

  11. Hello,

This is new and as awesome as your club.

I wonder what it'll be when you open it in 2020. Hopefully we still can get some news from you guys in the future.

I've told my kids about your blog since they're going to UFI Conference in March next year at Malaysia. They say they'll take a picture of Ipoh for me.

You really inspire others, I hope your members will continue doing that from your heart. Because a passion from heart last longer, a passion for fame just for a while. Do it from your heart, fame will befriend you in silence.

    Have a nice day.

  14. I remember this statue. Across the playground at Taman DR. Should highlight this as one of important things about the presence of Lions club in Perak. Its a joint project I guess? By the list of name at it? But this is the first time I come to a article about this. Never heard about this anywhere before.

Well done to Lions Club of Ipoh Host to highlight about this.

  16. I am at the capsule yesterday.some parents park their car around that area in evening when they bring their kids to the playground opposite it.so u need to see it carefully so u dont miss it.maybe u can put some signboard for it.if u come during night while rent a bike from mbike@kinta riverside,u gonna miss this because there is no light in that area.

    1. The whole area is under the local council. They have not even fixed lights for the playground at night. So most probably they wont fix it for the Lions Millennium Time Capsule also Syuan Yan.

  20. Hi,

I love to read your blog and also your comments. Your post and reply are really well manage and profesional. Its like we are reading a newspaper coverage. Most of photos are what we readers want to see and is a proof of your projects. Only few photos looks like selfie which sometime looks like you are promoting someone. But the rest are really showcase you talent. Well done.

You're doing this for second term. Good job, hopefully you'll doing this for future term too. I also want to do a blog for my club. But there is too many challenging factors. To assign people to reporting, to sort photo, to manage the url (all the coding here and there), updating, there too many person and scope need to involve, which make it more difficult. So I salute you guys for manage to continue this for the second term.

Congratulations and thank you for being an inspiration and source of ideas for our club projects and activities.

    Thank you. God bless.
